Gin Tasting in Lancashire: Your Questions Answered

Looking for a gin tasting in Lancashire? Or perhaps you’re planning a day out around Preston, Garstang, Longridge or the Forest of Bowland and fancy doing something a bit different?

We’re Wild Fox Distillery, a small family-run gin distillery tucked away on our working dairy farm in Inglewhite, Lancashire.

We make our gin here on the farm, welcome visitors every Saturday and love nothing more than introducing people to what we do.

Whether you’re a gin enthusiast, looking for a birthday experience or just fancy somewhere new to visit, we’ve answered some of the questions we’re most often asked.

Where can I go gin tasting near Preston, Lancashire?

You can join us for a gin tasting at Wild Fox Distillery, near Inglewhite, between Longridge and Garstang, within easy reach of Preston and the Forest of Bowland.

Our gin tastings take place every Saturday, and unlike traditional organised tasting evenings, you can choose a start time that suits your plans.

We’re a working farm distillery, so you’ll be enjoying your gin right where it’s made, with our copper stills, Ivy and Kin, never far away.

How much does a gin tasting cost in Lancashire?

Our full gin tasting experience costs £35 per person and includes five generous double measures from our Wild Fox range, mixers, savoury nibbles and a tasting pipette so you can experiment with the flavours.

You’ll also receive a £5 voucher towards purchasing a bottle on the day.

If you’re looking for something shorter, we also offer our mini gin flights for £10 per person, a lovely introduction to the range without committing to the full experience.

What happens during a gin tasting at Wild Fox Distillery?

First things first, it’s not a classroom!

We like to keep things relaxed, friendly and informal.

We’ll introduce you to our gins, explain a bit about how they’re made and talk you through the botanicals and flavours that make each recipe different.

You’ll have the opportunity to try the spirits, experiment with mixers and discover which ones you enjoy most.

There’s no need to know anything about gin before you arrive. In fact, that’s half the fun.

Do I need to book a gin tasting in advance?

For our full £35 gin tasting experience, yes, we recommend booking ahead.

You can purchase your tasting experience through our website and then get in touch to choose your preferred Saturday and start time.

We offer tasting start times every 15 minutes between 12pm and 3pm.

If you’d simply like to visit for a drink, browse the shop or enjoy a coffee, there’s no need to book.

Can I visit a gin distillery in Lancashire without booking a tasting?

Absolutely!

We’re open to everyone every Saturday from 12pm until 6pm.

You don’t need to be taking part in a tasting, or even like gin, to come and see us.

Our bar serves cocktails, draught beer, wines, mocktails, soft drinks and coffee, with cakes available too.

You can also browse the distillery shop and pick up a bottle or gift to take home.

Some visitors pop in for half an hour, while others make an afternoon of it.

Are there any dog-friendly gin distilleries in Lancashire?

Yes, Wild Fox Distillery is dog-friendly, so four-legged visitors are very welcome.

We’re surrounded by Lancashire countryside, with two mapped walking routes available directly from the distillery.

It’s a lovely way to combine a countryside walk with a visit to somewhere a bit different.

Just remember we’re also a working farm, so dogs need to be kept under control around livestock.

Can I bring children or someone who doesn’t drink alcohol?

Of course.

Our Saturday opening is about much more than gin tasting.

Families, designated drivers and anyone who would rather enjoy a coffee, cake or alcohol-free drink are very welcome.

We’re a working dairy farm too, so there’s often something happening outside, and you might even spot our Valais Blacknose sheep in the fields.

We want everyone to feel comfortable visiting, whether they’re enjoying a gin or not.

Is Wild Fox Distillery near the Forest of Bowland?

Yes. We’re located on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Bowland National Landscape, near Inglewhite in Lancashire.

We’re well placed for visitors exploring the area, including those staying around Garstang, Longridge, Preston and the Ribble Valley.

Many of our visitors combine their distillery trip with a countryside walk, a scenic drive or lunch at one of the lovely local pubs.

We often recommend The Cross Keys Inn at Whitechapel or Ye Horns Inn if you’re looking for somewhere to eat afterwards.

Can I book a gin tasting for a birthday, anniversary or group of friends?

Definitely.

Our Saturday gin tastings are a popular choice for birthdays, anniversaries, couples and groups of friends who fancy doing something a bit different.

We reserve seating together for your booked group, so you can enjoy the experience at your own pace.

We can also discuss private group tastings outside our usual Saturday opening hours.

Just get in touch and we’ll happily talk through the options.

Do you offer gin tasting gift vouchers?

Yes!

Our £35 gin tasting experience is available as a gift voucher, making it a lovely present for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries or simply as a thank you.

The recipient can choose a Saturday that suits them, so you don’t need to commit to a date when buying the gift.

Is Wild Fox Distillery accessible?

Yes, our distillery is accessible, and we welcome visitors with different mobility needs.

If there’s anything in particular you’d like to check before travelling, please get in touch. We’re always happy to help.

Can I buy gin directly from the distillery?

Absolutely, and we’d love you to.

Every bottle of Wild Fox gin is distilled and bottled here on our Lancashire farm.

Our distillery shop stocks our award-winning range, including Ivy’s Signature London Dry, Mane Event, Blushing Vixen, Twelve Bore and our seasonal releases.

You can sample the range, find a favourite and take a bottle home.

You can also shop online if you can’t make it out to visit.

When is Wild Fox Distillery open?

We’re open every Saturday from 12pm until 6pm.

Visits from Monday to Friday are available by appointment, so if you’re exploring Lancashire during the week, please get in touch and we’ll see what we can arrange.

We always recommend checking our latest opening hours on Google before travelling, especially around holidays and special events.
