People often ask us what a typical Saturday looks like at Wild Fox Distillery.
The truth is, no two Saturdays are ever quite the same.
Last weekend started with a steady stream of dog walkers arriving after exploring the footpaths and quiet lanes that criss-cross this corner of the Forest of Bowland. A few stopped for coffee and cake, others settled outside with a gin and tonic in the sunshine while their four-legged companions enjoyed a well-earned rest.
By mid-morning, we welcomed a family who were enjoying a Lancashire staycation just up the road in Bleasdale. The grandparents took a table overlooking the fields while the younger members of the family made a beeline for our Swiss Valais Blacknose sheep. Before long, the sheep were happily accepting digestive biscuits and posing for photographs, much to everyone’s amusement.
A little later, a group of friends arrived for one of our gin flights. They’d been looking for something different to do near Preston and had discovered us while planning a day out in the Forest of Bowland. What started as a quick visit turned into a leisurely afternoon comparing favourite gins, chatting with our team and enjoying the countryside views.
One of our favourite moments was a daughter bringing her mum out for coffee and cake. Sometimes we’re reminded that not every visit needs to be a special occasion. A quiet catch-up, a stroll in the countryside and a decent cup of coffee can be reason enough.
Throughout the day, visitors arrived from Longridge, Garstang, Preston and further afield. Some came specifically for our Lancashire gin tasting experiences, while others simply stumbled across us during a day exploring the local area.
That’s what we love about Saturdays here. We’re not a busy city-centre attraction with queues and crowds. We’re a small family-run distillery tucked away in the Lancashire countryside, where visitors can slow down for a couple of hours, enjoy good company and make the most of everything this beautiful part of the Forest of Bowland has to offer.
So if you’re looking for things to do in Lancashire this weekend, planning a day out near Preston, or searching for somewhere dog-friendly in the Forest of Bowland, we’d love to welcome you.
Whether it’s a coffee and cake, a gin flight, a full gin tasting experience or simply meeting the sheep, there’s always something happening at Wild Fox Distillery.
