If you’re looking for something a little different to do on a Saturday afternoon in Lancashire, can I let you into one of my favourite little secrets?
So many people head into the Forest of Bowland for a walk, a drive through the fells or a long lunch in one of the local country pubs, but tucked away on our family farm between Longridge and Garstang is our little distillery, and it’s become one of those places people stumble across and then wonder why they hadn’t visited sooner.
The nicest part? It isn’t just for gin lovers.
Every Saturday afternoon we open the doors for our gin tastings, but we’ve never wanted them to feel formal or intimidating. We wanted them to feel like popping round to see friends, having a chat and discovering something new.
Bring your husband who’s driving. Bring your friend who doesn’t drink gin. Bring the children. Bring the dog. Honestly, everyone is welcome.
While some of your group enjoy a tasting, everyone else can simply relax with coffee, cake, local beers, soft drinks or something from the bar. We even have our Valais Blacknose sheep in the fields if the little ones fancy saying hello, and there are some lovely countryside walks nearby if you want to make a full day of it.
Choose the tasting that’s right for you
Gin Flight – £10 per person
Perfect if you’re short on time or simply fancy trying the range.
You’ll enjoy five miniature gin samples, each paired with a carefully chosen mixer, while we chat through every recipe, the botanicals we’ve used and why each gin tastes so different. It usually takes around half an hour, although there’s never any rush.
Gin Tasting Experience – £35 per person
If you really want to immerse yourself in the world of gin, this is the one.
We’ll guide you through five generous double measures from our core range, tasting each one neat first before adding ice and mixers to discover how dramatically the flavours change. It’s relaxed, interactive and always sparks plenty of conversation.
At the end you’ll receive a £5 voucher to put towards a bottle if you’ve found a favourite.
Make a day of it
One of our favourite things to suggest is turning your visit into a proper Lancashire day out.
Start with a walk through the beautiful Forest of Bowland, call in to us for a gin tasting and then finish with a delicious meal at The Cross Keys Inn, where you’ll always find Wild Fox Gin behind the bar too.
It makes a brilliant date afternoon, a catch-up with friends, a birthday treat or simply an excuse to slow down for a few hours and enjoy some of the best countryside Lancashire has to offer.
If you’ve never visited us before, don’t expect anything fancy or corporate. Expect copper stills, plenty of stories, a warm welcome and hopefully a gin you’ll fall in love with.
We’d love to see you on a Saturday.
Saturday tasting times: Arrive any time between 11:30am and 3:00pm (booking recommended but not always essential).
We can’t wait to welcome you to Wild Fox Distillery.
